I did my thing on Monday. Halloween. Our sacred day.

I went to work. In my dress.  First time in two years that I've been able to dress authentically in the office.

I've never had such a wonderful reception to what I wore to the office.  One co-worker said I was glowing. They were disappointed when I arrived Tuesday morning in a button-down shirt and pants.

My interactions with customers were all positive. One older man had no idea that I wasn't a cis woman. No, he wasn't hitting on me.  I don't remember the full conversation but his name was the same as a famous old time movie actor and I said that I was named after my dad...

My big statement was I hate wearing a belt, one of the other male people in the office agreed.  He's a supervisor, we spoke about whether it is okay with the higher ups and how would wearing a dress work with the office dress codes and my response was that the code allows gender expression.  It was a great day.  I totally rocked the dress.  My only problem was that I am not used to wearing something that has a slit and I was a bit self conscious when the wind started blowing.

I will be talking with my therapist about how this will affect my psyche.

I do think this is a great step.

ps. after leaving work on Monday I did the most important thing as an American citizen.  I cast my ballot in the mid-term election.  I went to the polls after leaving the office, still in my dress. The "greeter" at the polls said I looked lovely. The guy who gave me the ballot, didn't think twice about who I was and how I was dressed.  Totally businesslike.

I'm back, again.

 Hello friends,

I know I've been away for too long.

COVID seems to have killed the entirety of 2020. But...I have been prepping for this past week. I didn't want to post another series of promises which I fail to fulfill. This woman had a plan. This woman was going to get things done. This woman was going to succeed and I didn't want to over-promise only to under-deliver!

Among the things which have occurred in the past few weeks, I think I've revealed myself to my ex-wife.

My daughters know and support my choice and the ex was aware of things when we were married but after the split, I NEVER mentioned my trans ness again to her. Ever. Yeah, she saw the photos of my Halloween outfits but I never said anything more.

Over the summer I was telling the Kids (they're adults but will always be my kids) that I needed to come up with a theme for Halloween. I had stated that a woman at work offered to play along if we would do a James Bond theme with me as the femme fatale.  Another option was the "I always wanted to be a bride" outfit. Youngest kid suggested a 50's theme with a poodle inspired skirt but since I volunteer with a group that offers spay/neuter services for cats and also TNR (Trap Neuter Return) services for feral or stray cats, a kitty skirt. We looked at ideas online, she found a Disney "Aristocats" inspired skirt and we all knew that the plan was in place.

I let my Mom know what we'd settled on. (I know... never end a sentence on a preposition...) My Mom suggested a white top with a sweater.  We figured out the skirt's fabric color, pink. I have a bra that gives me the perfect "bullet" shape for my breasts. My wife found a pair of white leather Keds and lace ankle socks.  For the last few weeks, I'd drive to the city to offer help in making the skirt.  Youngest Kid had a yellow skirt that we'd use as a rough plan for mine. The two Kids are proficient seamstresses and have created many garments for themselves.  The yellow skirt was made to have a petticoat under.  When one spins while wearing that skirt, it looks amazing. So "foofy!"

For the second to last visit, I brought one of my favorite skirts. Youngest Kid realizes that my skirt "HAS POCKETS!" and uses it to create a pattern to add pockets to my future skirt.

It was on this visit that we did some shopping, picking up a white tee shirt and the cutest pink purse shaped like a Bustier.  After we returned from our shopping trip, ex was there with her beau. I was in semi girl mode, bra, large breast forms, white button up blouse over a floral top. Youngest loved the white blouse so I left it with her. I was in and out of my skirt, the yellow skirt, the blouse, the tee shirt and so on.  I also asked to have an appointment made to get my nails done.  When I left, I was in full girl mode, wearing my skirt and floral top.

Wednesday, 10/28, I returned to the city so we could finish the skirt and do some other prep work.  We got our nails done, Oldest chose black, Youngest took a metallic glitter red and I took a pastel pink to match my skirt. My nails have never looked so good! Usually I do my own nails and after doing home chores, the color is nicked and chipped. These gel colors are amazing, four days in and they still look fantastic!  We all ( Oldest, Youngest, Ex and I) worked on the skirt being the eleventh hour, literally. I think I left that house around midnight.

I wore the new skirt to work, there wasn't a contest but the consensus I was the in best outfit. I had intended to do other things that day but my body decided it needed to have an allergy day.  After work, I took another round of allergy pills and plopped on the couch and slept through to 7:15 Friday morning. I got up drank a cup of water, took more allergy stuff and resumed my slumber until about 9:30 am.  I guess I was tired.

Friday morning I had an agenda! For Thursday, I had intended to work, cast my ballot in the 2020 general election and get my flu shot... cue Friday. Yes, I pulled up my big girl panties, bullet bra, poodle skirt and white top and went to the polling place. I don't think I got a second look until the polling place volunteer looked at my ID and didn't immediately put 2 +2 together.  Next, I went to the supermarket pharmacy to get my flu shot and bought a week's worth of food. On the way home, I stopped at the volunteer location and said hi to everyone. More rave reviews. At 5:30 I returned to the office, met my wife so I could bring her to the polling place so she could drop off her pre filled ballot.

So, today's Saturday.  We needed more stuff from the store and had to pay for a Costco pumpkin pie a friend picked up. I went back to the supermarket in full girl mode. It was glorious.  I picked up a burger and nuggets for our lunch and stopped off at the friend's home to repay her.  She said I looked divine! Her husband arrived a short time after I got there, D told B that someone stopped by and look who it is. B had absolutely no clue until I lowered my face mask. We're going to see friends tonight, what ever shall I wear? I'm leaving in 20 minutes. I don't know how comfortable I'll be...

ps

I had never gotten a professional manicure and color done before and I'll tell you one thing. I have newfound respect for the people working in nail salons.  The shop smelled like an auto paint facility.  I worked in a factory that closed because the company wished to do wood finishing work and couldn't get the permits to spray lacquers.  But how many nail shops are there in the city?

Thanks for spending the time to read my story.

Have a great Halloween. If you haven't voted yet, please vote.

Another Halloween in the books.

9:30 pm Halloween night, we just finished dinner.  It's been a long day.  The office had a potluck today, I brought a cake.  I didn't prepare my look and outfit as well as I'd liked but I think I did well.  Apparently, we've got a bit of a flu bug making a tour around the office and 3 or 4 of 20 were out sick today so we didn't have many of the women dressed for the big day. I kept my part of the deal by dressing as a mix of Blanche and Dorothy and E played the part of Rose. We had a Grinch and a couple of people wore tops with Jack O Lanterns.  J told me that I should just wear skirts every day...  We did Trunk or Treat from 6 to 8, well we went until we were out of candy and sat in a cold van for a while until we were able to safely drive away.  No going out for dinner, no going to the casino or winning the big prize.  I was tired, we were tired, and cold.

Between getting a couple slices of pumpkin pie and putting semi coherent thoughts to this blog, I'm thinking that it is time to go to bed.  The furnace is on. A warm bed is calling.

Good night, Moon!

Thanks for stopping by and...

Happy Halloween!

Two days 'til Heather goes to work

Halloween is getting closer. The excitement and nervousness are building.

My first year and second years, I was the first employee our customers saw when they came into the office.  It was fun.  I don't recall anyone speaking ill of me, directly.  Last year I was behind the scenes and didn't really have much contact with customers in the office.  For 2019, I'm going to be up front again!  I'm going to love the contact with everyone. I always have a smile on my face and in my voice when dealing with our customers.  I don't know how many co-workers are playing along. One of the women has a serious medical issue and won't be in, another is a party pooper and my "partner in crime" will be dressed in some kind of non standard work outfit.  I'm begging her to be a "Golden Girl" with me!

I've shown most of the women in the office the photo of my outfit. One woman even cancelled her day off because she wanted to be there for Halloween!  My skirt suit is washed and only needs to be pressed to be ready for the big day.

We're also doing the "trunk or treat" again.  This year, it will be from 6 - 8 pm.  I'm going to be a bit chilly but it will be SOOOOO worth it.

Talk to y'all later

Happy Halloween

I've done something I cannot remember doing too often in the past.  I have set out my clothes for tomorrow.  Skirt, peach colored top with embroidered butterfly and flowers, favorite bra, knickers, nylons and black sandals.  .Also, I've loaded a purse and wallet.  After I do my make-up, my cosmetics will also be placed into my bag.

My partner in crime texted me earlier, asking if I was still dressing up tomorrow.  I affirmed that I am.  We joked that we hope we're not going to get into trouble for cross dressing at work.

I am so excited to be able to dress up at work.

Our weekend of dreams?

I have the day off of work and don't have to return until Monday.  Halloween.  My original plan for the weekend was to do everything en-femme.  No EXCUSES!  My, how plans change.  We've decided to try selling stuff Saturday at a flea market in the parking lot of the local VFW.  No, I cannot attend this event dressed in a skirt and blouse, as much as I'd like it.  Our town is just a bit too conservative, religious or is it too Republican...  Most of my home time is already spent dressed up, even/especially if I'm some kind of work or cleaning something.  I'll still spend at least part of today, Saturday afternoon, all of Sunday and Monday as Heather and I'll love it.

I have a partner in crime for Halloween!

I told my deskmate of my plan to dress in a skirt on Halloween.  My "reason" that I told her was that so many people come into the office and reply to me, yes ma'am.  She, said that she would wear a suit and tie in contrast to my skirt.  Immediately after my telling her this, a person came in and replied to me...yes ma'am.  We both chuckled.  I'm so looking forward to Monday!

Our "Personal Holiday" or is it just Halloween?

We all know that Halloween is revered as a day we can do anything and go anywhere dressed as we like.  Can I have the strength to go to work en-femme?   My dream is that at the end of the work day, I will proclaim "this is the greatest thing I've ever done, so comfortable" and tell them that I'll be wearing a skirt to work every day.

I think I need to roll with anything that may come from going to the office in a blouse, skirt, hose and heels.  I don't think there will be bad comments from my co-workers but I am the only male and as far as I know the only one with gender issues. The women are all married or divorced and I don't think any are lesbian.  There are some that are "ultra-conservative" or religious but I am hoping that they'll be cool.  Fortunately, all of the bosses are pretty cool and seem to be open minded.

One of the odd things that happens when people talk to me in the office is that people often reply "yes, Ma'am" to me.  This happens both with co-workers and clients, it is almost as if they already know!  I've never alluded to my being transgender beneath my work slacks and button-down collars but I get a sense of satisfaction out of it.

My office is closed Friday the twenty-eighth and always I'm off on the weekend.  I plan to take advantage of the entire weekend to dress, do errands and generally do anything en-femme.  I've already shared this with my spouse and she's fine with it.  The edict was issued that if we are going to dress in the office, the outfit cannot be offensive to our co-workers or clients.  I don't think it'll be offensive to anyone but some may be taken aback by the sight of me, the first person our clients meet.  Do I buy make-up for this adventure?  The only thing I have is some nail varnish in various colors.  It'll be a good excuse to get a foundation, mascara and lipstick.  Or do I go for the natural look by skipping the make-up and breast forms.
Why do I need to worry about this.... GIRL PROBLEMS!
